Lisa's Point of View is featuring one of my “favorite places”, Gauthier Vineyard. I have visited Gauthier Vineyard several times the past few years. It is located in Barhamsville, Virginia just 6 miles off I-64 in New Kent County. With the tasting room perched on a hillside along the countryside, the view of the vineyards from the large expansive wrap around porches is so beautiful and peaceful.

This quaint family owned vineyard also includes a working horse farm and equestrian center next door. There is great history on this property, too. From their website: "Mo and Sandi Gauthier purchased their “Fair Winds” farm in 2010. Like most ground in the county, the farm is rich in history. Local relic hunters have validated its service as a Civil War encampment for both Union and Confederate forces during the lengthy Peninsula Campaign."

You can see from my photos, I have visited in the lush green spring/summer seasons and in the winter the views are ever changing and spectacular. Even on a rainy day, you can sit outside on the covered porches and listen to the rain and you might capture a rainbow over the vineyard like I was able to!

Their wine selection has something for every palate of both reds and whites. My all-time favorite is their Cab Franc. Enjoying one of their tastings is the perfect way to experiment with the different wines they offer and find your new favorite. They offer a regular tasting of 3 reds and 3 whites plus a sweet wine for a fee along with their reserve tasting which includes all of the regular tasting plus 2 reserve wines for a fee. All tastings include a keepsake Gauthier Vineyards wine glass.

Afterwards enjoy a glass of wine or bottle of wine with your friends on the beautiful outdoor wrap around porch or down along the grounds overlooking the pond and vineyard.
