All About the View at The Blue Point - Duck, N.C.
Changing up “my favorite places” to “my favorite place to dine with a view” at The Blue Point in Duck, North Carolina. John Power and Sam McGann, high school friends from Norfolk, VA, opened The Blue Point in 1989 in the quaint community of Duck, North Carolina. In those days, the community was sprinkled with a few beach cottages unlike the bustling thriving tourist destination community it is today. Located in the Waterfront Shops in Duck, it truly has one of the most incredible dining views on the Currituck Sound.
Their menu features seasonal dishes with a Southern flair along with specialty drinks. Every season has new menu items which makes it a delicious culinary experience on each visit!
I have been dining for lunch and dinner for years at The Blue Point. For visitors during the busy summer time, be sure to make reservations in advance! As I often travel alone, I am always made to feel welcome as a solo diner at The Blue Point. The level of customer service is top notch whether you are a regular local or a first time visitor, the staff wants to make your experience at The Blue Point a memorable one.
Their bartender always remembered what I liked to drink even though 3-6 months could go by between visits. He also remembered what I did for a profession and remembered I volunteer raising money for charities in Hampton Roads & other locations. That is the attention to detail and “getting to know the customer” on a personal level which sets The Blue Point apart from other restaurants. With a wide array of beverage options including an expansive wine section, one of my favorite specialty beverages is the refreshing, Loosey Goosey.
Every season is the perfect time to visit The Blue Point. Whether it is a cloudy day or a sunny day, the view at dusk can be breathtaking and serene. I was blessed to visit in July just 3 weeks post Cancer surgery as a belated birthday gift to myself. Even in their busy July season, the staff welcomed me even though I was alone. I was able to enjoy an amazing sunset that changed colors from blue to hazy to the most spectacular red and orange as I enjoyed a cool beverage outside after dinner.
Now with the Back Deck outdoor bar and the vast number of outdoor seating options, it is the perfect place to relax after dinner and enjoy “the view”.
