Jazz Up Your Salad With Salsa !

Lisa’s Point of View is blogging all things fresh salsa and salads. One of my favorite ways to add incredible variations of flavors to salad creations is by adding my fresh salsa. Fresh salsa is a much healthier option versus the often higher fat and calorie laden traditional salad dressings. Whether you use spinach, romaine, ice burg or the other various types of salad greens, the possibilities of adding delicious flavor options are unlimited using fresh salsa.

In these photos, I used a Medium Fresh Salsa with the spinach salad. One thing to think about when determining what type of fresh salsa and/or heat level you are using is what other types of vegetables or fruits and textures are you using with your salad greens. If you have a variety of textures and flavors like tomatoes, avocados, sweet bell peppers then you can use any range of flavors including mild, medium or 5 pepper.

If your salad greens have minimal additional ingredients, a creative way to add variety to your salad is to add fresh fruit salsas. Utilize local farmers markets to gather fresh local “in season” fruits to make your own fresh fruit salsa or pico de gallo with big chunks of fruit. The sweetness of the fruits and the savory dynamic of the tomatoes and other ingredients in the salsa or pico de gallo will add an amazing explosion of flavor to often bland tasting greens. My favorites are strawberry salsa, mango/peach/pineapple salsa, mango salsa, strawberry/mango salsa, mango pomegranate pico de gallo & apple salsa to top on my fresh salad greens. The possibilities are as creative as your imagination can take you with fresh fruit salsas!
